 HAITI: EARTHQUAKE RELIEF NEARS SIX-MONTH MARK

   It has been nearly six months since a 7.0-magnitude earthquake inflicted widespread destruction and death on Haiti. It was the most massive quake to strike the country in 200 years.

In April, United Nations Head of Mission Edmond Mulet revised casualty totals and said that the quake had taken the lives of 250,000 to 300,000 people, injured 300,000, and left more than a million homeless.

   UMCOR has been on the scene in Haiti from the start, laying the groundwork for a long recovery. Generous donors have given more than $37.2 million to this effort, but more is needed.
