Africa University Mission Trip: October 24 - November 4

   After putting our Africa University Initiative on hold because of the desire to respond to the earthquake in Haiti, the Grand Rapids District AU Task Force has resumed their plans to partner with Africa University in Zimbabwe.

  A group of 8 Grand Rapids District clergy and lay persons will be traveling to Africa University this fall.  Our purpose is to:

• Work with officials to coordinate plans for the construction of a much needed retreat center on the campus of AU (formerly called "Fellowship House")
• Initiate church/pastor partnerships with the United Methodist Church in Zimbabwe
• Explore the development of a manufacturing incubator to promote entrepreneurship and sustainable energy
• Explore the possibility of establishing a relationship between AU and the Health College at GVSU

Members of the mission team include Ed Edwardson, Andy Williams, Don Reis, Kim Delong, Dick & Dianne Morrison, and Laurie & Gary Haller.  Upon return we plan to promote our AU initiative and begin raising funds for the construction of the retreat center.
