ABUSE PREVENTION TRAINING FOR LOCAL CONGREGATIONS
The Abuse Prevention Team of the West Michigan Conference has scheduled training events in the conference beginning in August. These training events are for clergy, youth leaders, camp counselors, Sunday school teachers, or any other interested lay persons in your church. The training events will include: Conference Abuse Prevention policy for safe sanctuaries, conference & insurance guidelines DVD's, technology abuse, websites and resources, discussion and handouts of procedure for dealing with abuse in the church.
The schedule for training events in the West Michigan Conference:
- Saturday, August 28, 9am-12noon at Wyoming Park UMC - GR District
- Saturday, August 28, 9am-12noon at Hartford UMC - Kalamazoo District
- Saturday, November 13, 1-4 pm at Breckenridge UMC - Heartland & GT Districts
- Saturday, January 15, (time TBD) at Marshall UMC - Albion District
- Saturday, February 12 (site & time TBD) - Lansing District
NOTE: Individuals unable to attend the training in their district, may choose another site or date.

- Galactic Blast: August 2-5 from 6-8pm at Cedar Springs UMC,140 S. Main St. (corner of Church St. and Main St. in Cedar Springs). Valley Church New Church Start |

This Sunday, July 18th following worship, you're invited to Valley's first all church picnic!
Plan to hang out, eat, get to know one another better, eat some more, play some outdoor and indoor games, hang out, laugh and just have some good times with each other as a community!
Please bring dish to share, your lawn chairs and an outdoor game if you have one. We will provide hot dogs, brats, beverages, plates and plastic utensils.
Next Valley Church Family Night is July 21
- 6:30 - 7:30 (free hot dogs and root beer, crazy games for kids and families, activities, crafts, bounce houses)
- 7:30 - 8:00 (family friendly worship experience)
A night of crazy games, crafts, activities, bounce houses, kid-friendly worship, free food, and any other crazy stuff we think up! It's the Valley Church version of Vacation Bible School, but for the entire family!
Last Valley Church Family Night: August 18
- 6:30 to 8:00 PM (rain or shine)
Hosted by Valley Church in Allendale on the corner of Lake Michigan Dr. and 60th Ave. in the Byron Bank building. Weekly Sunday worship gathering at 10:45am in the Byron Bank building.

Presented by Cornerstone UMC and the GR District, this conference for both clergy and laity, will offer practical steps to assess local church health leaving participants revitalized, empowered and equipped to lead in new and exciting ways. Enhance Fitness with the YMCA
Enhance Fitness is a new YMCA class that meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00-2:00 PM at the Courtland-Oakfield United Methodist Church, 10295 Myers Lake Ave., in Rockford. Instructors for the class are from the Wolverine World Wide Family YMCA staff. On Thursdays Jeff Williams, pastor at Courland-Oakfield and White Pines UMCs, leads a Bible study from Noon-1:00pm.
