Registration Begins for Fall Lay Speaking Classes Basic and Advanced Lay Speaking classes will be held on Saturday, October 9 and Saturday, October 30 from 9am to 3pm at Grand Haven Church of the Dunes, 717 Sheldon Rd. in Grand Haven. You must have completed the Basic class before taking the Advanced class and must complete both days of Advanced classes to receive your certificate. According to the Book of Discipline, to remain a certified Lay Speaker one must take an Advanced class every 3 years. If your certification has lapsed, but you did take Basic, you may take either the Advanced or the revised Basic being offered. Please bring your Bible and writing materials. Payment can be made at the first class. September 17 is the registration deadline and we need a minimum of 10 participants in each class.
There is a $25 fee, which includes all materials and both lunches. Do you have questions about either training or do you need to find out if you're still certified? The Lansing District is offering a Lay Speaking Training overnight from 7pm Friday, November 12 through 7pm Saturday, November 13 at Wesley Woods Camp, 1700 Clear Lake Rd. in Dowling.
